Jean Pierre Letourneau, M.Eng, P.Eng.
Mr. Létourneau is a nuclear engineer with more than 30 years experience in NPP operations and NER. He provides seamless exercise control with an integration between on-site events (as conducted by PLGS staff) and offsite Controllers. He will provides expertise to ISR Team members, as required, regarding NPP operational procedures and plant operations. Mr. Létourneau has been tasked to prepare shift crews on the simulator before large scale exercises.
Mr. Jean-Pierre (JP) Létourneau performed several key roles in the Canadian Nuclear industry during his career. He worked for AECL in senior management positions at the Chalk River Laboratories (CRL) where he was responsible for creating a nuclear programs organization, in licensing activities, having interacted with CNSC staff and the Commission on license renewal, and providing operational support to nuclear facilities such as the NRU and MAPLE reactors.
JP was an authorized shift manager at Gentilly-2, the only operational nuclear power plant in Hydro-Quebec's suite of electrical power plants. JP started his career with Ontario-Hydro at the Nuclear Power Demonstration plant (NPD) where he became authorized as a shift supervisor. JP’s professional activities include overseas trips to India, Romania, Austria and China. He participated in a WANO Peer Review with a team of international experts and worked with the IAEA. JP is a registered professional engineer.
