RN Regulatory Specialist
Mr. David Knight has a Masters of Engineering (Nuclear Engineering) from the Royal Military College of Canada and has 18 years of experience e in the nuclear regulatory affairs and radiation protection. He also brings 22 years experience as a Royal Canadian Navy marine engineering officer to the ISR team.
Mr. Knight’s radiation and nuclear regulatory experience includes work in the Defence Department as a Senior Engineering specialist in the Department’s Nuclear Regulatory office developing policy, ionizing radiation safety practices, training standards and determining the safety and environmental impact of nuclear technologies. Within this position, he also acted as a representative in the development of international nuclear emergency response plans.
During the last five years of his public service tenure, Mr. Knight participated in the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization’s On-site Inspection surrogate inspector training programme that culminated with the Integrated Field Exercise 14 in Jordan. He ended his public service career in the Defence Department’s infrastructure construction and project delivery office where he led several teams in major infrastructure projects for the Navy.
Since joining ISR, Mr. Knight has supported several projects in updating, testing and evaluating nuclear emergency preparedness response plans in the Gulf Cooperation Council.
