Professional Summary

Dr. Daniel Grondin holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry and has over 30 years of experience in the nuclear industry in licensing, environmental assessment (EA), decommissioning and waste management. Over the course of his 30-year tenure, Dr. Grondin held various leadership and management roles at AECL.

Throughout his career, Dr. Grondin contributed to numerous Environmental Assessments. He prepared a comprehensive environmental study for upgrades to a low-level liquid radioactive waste treatment facility and he was responsible for the completion of a comprehensive environmental study for the decommissioning of Whiteshell Laboratories. He also authored EAs for the establishment of a new above ground waste storage facility, for the decommissioning of a rod bay storage facility and for the construction of a near-surface disposal facility for low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste.

Dr. Grondin led the development of decommissioning strategies for nuclear facilities at Chalk River Laboratories (CRL). He also successively held responsibilities as Program Client Representative and Program Advisor for CEAA activities within Decommissioning and Waste Management at AECL.

Dr. Grondin acquired significant licensing experience as licensing manager for a number of projects and through the renewal of site licences.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Grondin was a research scientist involved in the nuclear fuel waste management program at the Whiteshell Laboratories. Upon his transfer to the Chalk River Laboratories, he also led the implementation of the Municipal Industrial Strategy for Abatement (MISA) monitoring program for the CRL liquid effluents.
